Follow Your Elected Officials on Social Media & Sign Up for Their Newsletters

After researching your legislators, it is essential to stay informed by following them on all relevant social media platforms. When you follow your legislators on social media, it allows you to:

  • Know about their upcoming constituent events
  • Follow their legislation
  • Foster a relationship with your legislator online!

Experience is vital in helping your legislator understand long-term care, including Skilled Nursing and Intermediate Care. The best way to show your legislator and their staff how crucial long-term care is by inviting them to visit your facility, which allows them to see how vital the long-term care continuum is in California.

  • Reinforces the face of LTC in their district by showing up and attending events
  • Fosters your relationship with your legislators

Meet with Your Legislator in Their Office

  • Another option is to meet with your legislators or their staff (staff are the gatekeeper’s and policy experts) in the district office
  • Attend Spring Advocacy in Sacramento! This event allows you to meet with your legislators in their Capitol office to discuss legislation and issues facing the sector while continuing to foster your existing relationship.
  • Note: If you need help setting up a meeting, please let us know by emailing advocacy@cahf.org

Repeat!

It is vital to continue to build on the relationships you have with your legislators by reaching out to them again.
